Dougie Jones was a manufactured tulpa of FBI agent Dale Cooper, created by Cooper's doppelganger as a safeguard against being forcibly returned to the Black Lodge. Living in Las Vegas from at least 1997, Dougie worked as an insurance agent at Lucky 7 Insurance and was married to Janey-E, with whom he had a son, Sonny Jim. Dougie was often perceived as unreliable and morally compromised, accumulating debts and engaging in extramarital affairs. He also suffered from periodic catatonia, possibly linked to a past car accident.
In 2016, Dale Cooper escaped the Black Lodge and replaced Dougie, causing Dougie to disintegrate into a golden seed. Although Cooper initially existed in a near-vegetative state, his presence dramatically improved Dougie's life. Family and colleagues responded positively to his altered behavior, unaware of the switch. When Cooper fully regained his faculties, he instructed the spirit Mike to create a new, better version of Dougie using a lock of his hair. This new tulpa later returned to Janey-E and Sonny Jim.
Dougie's ring was later found inside a corpse in Buckhorn, South Dakota, linking him indirectly to other supernatural events. His disintegration and rebirth align with recurring themes in David Lynch’s work involving transformation and manufactured identities.
